Ranald S. Mackenzie
Ranald S. MacKenzie, described by Ulysses S. Grant himself as the Union's most promising young officer. He was appointed Brigadier General by Abraham Lincoln in 1864, at the age of 24, and would later serve with great distinction in the following Indian Wars
