I10062 - Harper Lee

"My reaction to it was of not of surprise but of sheer numbness. It was one of being hit over the head and knocked cold." Harper Lee, regarding the reception of her first novel, "To Kill A Mockingbird"

Harper Lee is seen sitting in the courthouse in her hometown of Monroeville. "From childhood on, I did sit in the courtroom watching my father argue cases and talk to juries.”

The courthouse became famous through the movie adaption of "To Kill A Mockingbird". The set builders of the movie came to Monroeville to measure, photograph and draw the courtroom to recreate it on a Hollywood sound stage.
