This picture of an unknown man from 1845 stood out to me. His beard is unlike the time he lived in, but his clothes and glasses all resemble what was common in the 1840s. I speculate this image was taken by Mathew Brady in 1845, the year he opened his photographic studio there. I like to imagine this fella stood out to Brady so much he just had to photograph him. The story of Joseph Palmer, the man persecuted for wearing a beard in 1830 springs to mind.
