This iconic image was taken by Joe Rosenthal on Feb 23, 1945 during the invasion of Iwo Jima during WW II. It is possibly one of the most famous photographs ever taken and has been reproduced in many ways and for many uses. This version is in 3D.

Sadly, 3 of the 6 men in the photo were killed shortly afterward. One of the surviving men (Ira Hayes) was the subject of a Hollywood movie "The Outsiders" starring Tony Curtis.
